Before heading to Texas Jen and I decided to take a day to explore Southeast New Mexico. We started early in the morning driving from Ruidoso down to White Sands National Monument. Look for the Worlds Largest Pistachio Nut to your right before getting into town. Awesome! Stop for coffee to keep warm on the dunes barefooted. Drive!
Get to White Sands early in the morning. The Park Rangers usually leave to get coffee and you can drive in for free. We where lucky and and came after a windy night so all tracks where coverd form the pervious day. No one! I mean no one was there. We hike around bare footed in which is the only way to hike here. We also made sand angles and rolled around in that unreally soft sand like powered. Maybe a little radiated thou.
After a good hour or two we where off into Lincoln National Forest. A hidden gem! Ever the chance take it; this area will never let you down. THIS DRIVE IS AWESOME! Enjoy! We stop for a moment at a road side stand before leaving hat had it bathroom inside a Camels pen. A clean one thou. Let the kids burn some energy by feed the goats and pickup a mini-pie for yourself. YUM-OOO! We talked for moment and the owner explained that his family has had that land since the first white settlers came to that area. Cool! Get you some. Off...
to Carlsbad Cavern.
